Philanthropy

Adaptive athletes are not the side story. They are the teachers.

Matt's philanthropy has centered on access, dignity, endurance, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to cross their own finish line.

C Different: Compete. Challenge. Conquer.

Matt founded C Different to help blind and visually impaired athletes participate in triathlons and endurance events. The mission was never pity. It was access, preparation, trust, and the chance for athletes to compete.

Dignity-first language

Access without exploitation.

Stories about disability, IDD, and adaptive sport need consent, specificity, and respect. The athlete is never a prop for someone else's motivation.

Do not use pity language

Do not refer to athletes as inspiration props

Use people-first or identity-respectful language depending on the person's preference

Ask athletes how they want to be described

Use blind athlete, visually impaired athlete, adaptive athlete, athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and people with IDD where appropriate

Avoid suffering from

Performance with purpose.

Matt's philanthropy links endurance preparation with access, trust, family support, and the practical systems that let athletes participate with dignity.

Community access
